Recommendation submissions [#permalink] New post 11 Sep 2012, 10:07
Hi All,

Given that deadlines are fast-approaching for several schools (HBS, Booth, GSB, etc), I'm wondering how others are faring in getting recommendations submitted? Do I need to be concerned if my recommenders still haven't submitted? Is this something that usually ends up happening within a few days of the deadlines?

Thanks,

Almost every school will assign a soft-deadline for the complete application upfront but will not actually have a firm deadline for things beyond your control, such as recommendations. It is in your best interests to get them in sooner as admissions will not review your file until they receive a complete application.

Thanks. Are you sure this is the case? HBS specifically states the application is not considered complete until all recs are submitted.

In any case, I suppose I'm trying to figure out when most people have had their recs submitted (I.e. one week prior, three days, five hours, etc).

Set a calendar invite, and send it to them, for twodays earlier than the deadline. 2 days beforethis deadline send a reminder. When recommenders receive the email, they are provided infornation on dates and deadlines. So they will in all probability appreciate you having taken a 2 day safety.

Recommenders should submit by deadline. Most school allow a submission by the recommender 1-2 days later also, but some wont, why take a chance?
