Regarding GPA for GMAT [#permalink] New post 27 Apr 2012, 06:13
Hi,

I have taken the Gmat 3 days back and in the initial screens of the exam, regarding the query about the GPA, I have calculated the GPA as per the following guideline. Please note that in my time there was no GPA system in my university and I had acquired 81.5% then. I have taken into consideration the 100-0 scale as below as a percentage rather than a percentile and hence marked my GPA as 3.1. Now some of my friends are telling me that it should be percentile instead of percentage. If I calculate like that, my GPA will turn out to be quite different as the highest percentage in my college was 88%.

4.0 Scale A-F 100-0

4.0 A 90-100
3.0-3.9 B 80-89
2.0-2.9 C 70-79

Is this notion correct? Can someone please advise on how to calculate the GPA? Also since I have already filled in the GPA while taking the exam, the 3.1 GPA has been applied for the 5 schools where to send the score free-of-charge, so what would be the implication if my supposition was wrong while calculating the GPA, can I update the GPA now?

I wouldn't stress about this. After all, these are simply self-reported numbers. During the admissions process, adcom will see your official transcript and you'll have plenty of chances to report another (more accurate) GPA during the application process.
