Why Discloses is required?

The first word of the sentence is released. Do you think it indicates a past action.

The report is released the first Friday of every month, indicating that the report always discloses the said information, and hence the present simple.

Thanks for the reason. It is exactly what I thought.

Even if you are not sure on discloses/disclosed, check other parts of the given choices. Either parallelism is missing on the number of or correctverbs.

OA is C.

C is correct because releasing of report every first friday of the month is a continuous process.

Also in D

(D) disclosed the number of new jobs that are created during the reporting period and the number of hours being worked - 'are' is incorrect. 'the number of' is always singular.

(E) disclosed the number of new jobs that have been created during the reporting period and the number of hours worked

The bold part states that an action happens every month so we need present simple tense. Hence D and E are our. Among A,B,C C wins since new jobs are countable nouns and hence "the amount of " is incorrect!

The first Friday of every month occurs ; repeated action hence presnt tense will follow.

The amount = Used for Non countable Nouns
The number = Used for Countable Nouns

Number of Jobs created dring a particular period of time is countable so - The number is acceptable.
Hours worked can be counted so - The Number of Hours worked is acceptable.

(A) discloses the amount of new jobs to be created during the reporting period and the amount of hours to be worked - Incorrect

(B) discloses the amount of new jobs being created during the reporting period and the amount of hours worked - Incorrect

for countable things one need to use "number" not amount so A and B are out
D using "number of hours being worked" being is used for on-going action so its use is wrong here..D out moreover, D isnt precise. one can say number of new jobs created rather number of jobs that are created
the use of have been is wrong in option E

"Discloses" is used because of the word "every Friday" that hints that this process is continuous one. "Disclosed" would be used in other situations

D and E out as this is a recurring activity hence requires present tense 'discloses'.

Split 1 - The sentence states a general fact- a report is released every friday; thus, we need "discloses" Eliminate (D) and (E)
(D) disclosed the number of new jobs that are created during the reporting period and the number of hours being worked
(E) disclosed the number of new jobs that have been created during the reporting period and the number of hours worked

Split 2 - SV Agreement - Hours and jobs are countable nouns. 1 hour, 2 hours 3 hours etc... therefore we need "the number" of hours and
(A) discloses the amount of new jobs to be created during the reporting period and the amount of hours to be worked

(B) discloses the amount of new jobs being created during the reporting period and the amount of hours worked

(C) discloses the number of new jobs created during the reporting period and the number of hours worked

Though I did this problem correctly, I want to stretch the discussion a little bit.

What if problem had started like this...Released on first friday of every month till 1990, the report disclosed/disclose....
I think in this case "disclosed" is correct, considering time frame mentioned in statement.

Am I correct?

"jobs to be created" is correct or not. pls, explain. thank you

I think "to be created" is a future action . this future action is not fit inhere. we need a simple action " jobs which are created during the reporting period". we need "are created" because "reporting period" require simple present.

am i correct?

the action is still being done ; also subject is the Labor Department’s employment report ; we need singular verb discloses
amount is non countable , the number is singular which is correct
option C is correct
