Hi, I was hoping you could assess my chances for 2015. I know my score is low and too hard to find a good school but still I want to take a shot.

Age: 25 (26 at time of matriculation)
GMAT: 580 Q48 V21 IR5 AWA-N.A.

Undergrad: B.Tech.Computer Engineering, Poornima College of Engineering,India (70%. Don't understand how to calculate GPA on 4 point scale so putting my degree in Indian percentage format)

Work Experience: 3 years as a Software Developer in the Tata Consultancy Service Ltd. My work domain expertise is in Life Science and Healthcare.

Goals: MBA in Information Technology or Biotechnology . Open to all forms of general management, though.

Hi there,

Thanks for posting. Yes, one of the biggest challenges you are facing is that GMAT, and that verbal score in particular.... have you considered re-taking?? With some tutoring or a class, you could really bring that score up by improving verbal, which could help you get into more reputable schools, which would subsequently help your career prospects. Schools take the higher score, so there isn't much to lose by giving it another shot and it's quite common to do so. Currently you'd be looking at schools well outside the top 50-60 to have a decent shot. Beyond the GMAT, you'll want to think about how you have demonstrated leadership and teamwork, and how you've contributed to results and made an impact, in your work experience so far. Your essays are also important in that they demonstrate who you are and what you'll bring to the program. Wishing you the best, good luck and keep us posted.
