Request for some advice about Booth/Kellogg Weekend PT MBA [#permalink]
20 Jan 2010, 20:11
Dear Friends, May I request some guidance regarding my profile and its suitability for either of the MBA programs?
My profile: About 12 Years plus IT work experience (35 years age). last position at Big 4 firm as a senior manager leading one of the practices. currently, trying to launch a small start up. my experience mainly spans around sales, BD and large global program managements. started my life as a junior developer. Had an engineering degree from a reputed University with GPA around 3.79. Status: Appearing for GMAT in a month or so. Lining up essays, references, optionals etc. Questions: 1. Realistically, what is a comfortable GMAT score? I am not looking for the stellar scores as I know I am not capable of them. I want to balance the score with my work experience. So, some guidance will be great. 2. Timeline -- How long do the Schools take to decide on your candidacy? 3. Resume -- What do the schools look for in a resume? Do they consider frequent job switch a -ve? I have one entry where I worked for only 6 months and had to leave as my boss was let go. I see about 4 other entries in my career other than this one. Any guidelines? 4. Will it hurt my candidacy that I am an independent entrepreneur? Much appreciate your guidance. Jane

So a "comfortable" score would be around 690 or higher. 2)Their websites say 2-4 weeks (assuming you can interview in that timeframe). Remember, interviews are required at both programs.

As mentioned the average scores are around 690.. but i know folks who have gotten into these schools at much lower scores.. try your best.. a good GMAT score is needed. also independent entrepeneur can be a advantage and will differentiate you from others but your story and vision of what u want to do and how MBA will help and how you can contribute to the classes will be important..

Your GMAT will not be a barrier to entry. In fact all PT programs (Booth included) are seeing significant decline in application volume. So your chances are even better than usual.

I am just curious, has Kellogg started releasing round 1 weekend MBA decisions (for 2010)? Also, no news from Booth either. Any thoughts? Thanks

No news today! I guess that is good. Just curious, I am not seeing many people enquiring about the weekend MBA programs or saying that they received approval / rejected etc. Are there not many people or everyone got feedbacks?

Still early days!!! I don't think a lot of people got feedback.. I attended some info sessions and a lot of people were still working on essays... might see some resurgence closer or around deadlines.. janedoeill wrote: No news today! I guess that is good.
