Thanks so much for your request for feedback from a StratusMBACounselor. As I'm sure you realize, there is far too much to the experience of getting selected for MBA Admission than can possibly be captured via messages, but let me provide for you an admissions lens through which you can get some insight into your candidacy. I've recopied your post below and I will make comments alongside:
Demographics: Being in the pool of applicants from India means you are competing against many qualified candidates. But in your favor would be your gender as many schools are eager to increase their female percentages and also your age puts you in the early side of the sweet spot for many MBA programs.
- 25 years old
- Nationality: Indian

- One promotion: grade change by one level
Education: (The Masters in Economics, while from a prestigous school, may be seen differently by different people. Certainly grades are good, but sometimes schools are wary of too many degrees. You will want to be sure to explain how the Econ masters has provided a solid foundation for your short and long term career goals post MBA) Great to see those specific rankings since it is so impressive.

Why MBA: (Will want to get more specific in post MBA goals than just broadening horizons. This is where we can really help.
Stratus Prep counselors will walk you through exercises that can help you refine your WHY and also plan a strategy for school selection) Our counselors have attended the top programs and have an understanding of the cultures and also we work in a team approach where you will have a team of professionals- 5- all involved in giving you relevant feedback whether it is resume critique, mock interviews tailored to the school you are interviewing with, proofreading on final essays etc. You will feel like part of a team, and that's great training for how you will be working in business school on teams.
- By the virtue of my previous training, I possess a good understanding of economics, econometrics and statistical frameworks. I enjoy my domain of work, which essentially deals with application of statistical tools and techniques to solve business problems.
- My motivation for pursuing an MBA is to develop a sound understanding of the business and financial world. I see this endeavour as an enabler and a catalyst in my career progression and evolution, which would help me broaden my horizon.
- Yet to take GMAT (So I definitely would take that although your GRE scores are solid- your counselor, if you choose us, could help you strategize by school on GRE versus GMAT)
- GRE: 328/340
- TOEFL: 110/120 (planning to retake) (If your mode of instruction was English, you may not always be required to submit this but this looks like you should not have issues from TOEFL.
Target Schools:
- Wharton
- Stanford
- NYU Stern
- Booth
- Kellogg
- Other top 20 schools
(You have selected some top schools and without a GMAT or seeing how you are telling your story, there is much speculation involved in me just saying yes or no to this list. What I would do once I have my GMAT score is to look at the profiles for mid ranges at each program and you will have an idea.) One thing I invite you to do is to reach out to our client services team and talk about scheduling a consult so that you can hear how our counselors would work with you in a real conversation. You can private message me to get more details. I do think you have many strong points with which to start and Stratus would look forward to telling you more about how we could work with you. And thanks for your patience in the reply- we are stepping up our presence here and are happy to provide some insights and things to consider as you move forward in the MBA application process.
Kindly review my profile and let me know my prospects of getting into my target schools. Also, let me know what all can I do in order to improve my profile.
Thanks a lot
