Researchers have discovered a new species of sparrow that lives only in cypress groves, almost wholly dependent on the berries of a certain type of vine that grows on cypress trees and whose coloring is completely different from all other sparrows.

I understand how the Parallelism works in this sentence.

The Manhattan test explanation says that phrase "whose coloring is completely different from all other sparrows." implies that the their coloring is different from themselves. The word Other is used and doesnt that exlude this current species of sparrow being discussed. How is this so? I see this comparsion as logical. Can someone please shed some light on this issue .

You are absolutely correct. The use of other means that the color of sparrows of this particular species is different from color of sparrows in all other species.
