I was wondering what resources other clubbers have used to research possible post-MBA careers? I hear plenty about the hot ticket jobs (MC/IB) and a bit about other possibilities such as brand management however I'd like to know as much as possible about the other careers that people pursue out of b-school.

Has anyone found the Vault MBA Bible books helpful? I've heard that they give a very brief description of the jobs that are out there. Are there any more comprehensive sources out there that anyone is familiar with?

Thanks! :-D

You could attend one of the job fairs to get a sense of what companies hire MBAs to do.

You can also look at the websites for career offices at MBA programs. They usually have information on what fields/industries the graduates go into. Then you can use Vault and Wetfeet to get a sense of what those jobs involve.

I'd go with what Jerz suggested. The employment reports on B school websites break down the post-MBA jobs into industries and functional areas both. So, if you are certain about any one criteria, you can dig deeper into these reports and see. Also, Wetfeet and Vault career guides are available for most functional areas and they do provide quote good info on what skills are required to succeed in what kind of job. However, I only read the "Careers in Consulting" guides. You might have to pay a few dollars for the latest versions but an older version might be available for a free download at

the placement staistics on school websites will help, though they will list only companies and not profiles offered to graduates. also, has description of almost every possible career around!

Hope this post helps! :)
Your kudos will let me know.
