Responding to growing demand for high-end vehicles, the interiors of the newest models are so luxurious that they sell for nearly twice the price of last year's models.

the interiors of the newest models are so luxurious that they sell
the interiors of the newest models are so luxurious that the cars are sold
auto makers have installed interiors in the newest models that are so luxurious that they sell
the interior of the newest models are so luxurious that they are sold
auto makers have installed such luxurious interiors in the newest models that these cars sell

Though i got the answer right but the OE states that C has an error of they and i understand its an ambiguiyt but when we refer back to definition of possessive pronoun it says these pronouns should stand for the nearest or previous noun in number which it does

closest to they is NEWEST models hence i think its correct there are other too.............pls clear my doubt.

In Option C: Nearest noun/pronoun for they is not newest models, instead it is "they are" which refers to Interiors, which is spoiling the meaning of the sentence

Although you would think that they clearly refers to the cars but they can also refer to car dealers, albeit it is a ridiculous preposition. In general, if you have an answer choice that replaces the pronoun with a clear antecedent go for that. That's why E wins.

E is correct.
I picked C because I saw "these cars sell" is not correct. At first, my though is "these cars sold". However, GMAT consider "cars sell" correct idiom.
Hope it helps.

Adding to the replies -

I think this sentence is more of a logical question than a grammar based one. The GMAT wants you to pick a choice which reflects the tone of the sentence.

By that, the correct choice says that the high-end vehicles are now fitted with luxurious interiors which match the "level of luxury" of these vehicles, making these vehicles easier to sell.
