That's the simple answer.
Do not retake. A 710 is great. Forget about the IR. MAny schools still don't even know how to evaluate it.
You don't have time to retake the GMAT. At this point you have eight weeks until deadlines. It's far more important that you get a handle on your essays, and work those to death.
So leave the GMAT alone. You have a great score. Now it's time to start WRITING.
I recently took the gmat and scored a 710 overall with a breakdown of Q49 (83%) and V38 (84%) with a 5.5 (77%) on the AWA. However, I completely messed up the IR section and scored an embarrassingly low 4 (38%). I only did a handful of IR practise questions beforehand as I wanted to concentrate on the main section as it was my 4th attempt. I don't really want to sit the GMAT again and would rather focus on essays and the rest of the app, but was wondering if the really low IR score would significantly impact my chances at top 7 schools? I plan on applying in the second round this year but my IR score is really freaking me out.
I would really appreciate your views. Thanks in advance.
