Retake in 45 days after a 640 - good idea? [#permalink] New post 24 Sep 2007, 05:56
So I took the gmat on 9/20 and got a 640, 42Q and 35V.

This score really sucks for me because if I had gotten 20 points more I would be in the clear for the schools I am applying.

So, I wanted to get some feedback on how I should proceed to get a few extra points and if taking the test 30-45 days from now is a good idea.

My plan is to improve my verbal score by focusing on CR and SC. I think I must have not done well on either of these because they were borderline when I was taking gmat prep, sometimes I would do well other times not. RC has been consistent for me though.

I ordered the OG for Verbal, and will rework the 800 verbal OG to prepare. I also am getting the Manhattan SC book. Also I will do the 1000 SCs.

I am going to try and maintain my Q score and work on this as well by redoing the OG for DS and PS. Is it wise to do the gmatclub challenges, since I hear they are very difficult and may not help?

My worse fear would be to do worse on Q and stay the same on V. I hope that my brain isn't too burnt out to take it again 30-45 days from now. I feel that if i wait longer I will lose most of the studying that I have done.

being 20 pts short is not going to kill your chances. If you're going to retest and time is not a concern, prep a little longer and go for 700.
