Retaking after 730 (Q50 V38) AWA 5.5; Please review my plan. [#permalink] New post 18 Jul 2012, 04:53
Hi All,

I need help improving my score. Current score : 730 (V-38 & Q-50); AWA : 5.5

As you can see, my Quant and AWA are fine, and I am not aiming for 51.

I have recently taken GMAC PREP -> CR - 2 Incorrect; RC - 2 Incorrect; SC - 8 Incorrect; Score 720 (V-37 & Q-50); Time management needs attention, as 6 questions were wrong in the last 10. I am planning to schedule more time towards the end.

Clearly, SC is the treasure which I should tap.

I have solved all the SC questions in OG12 and I have used the "GMAT Club Guide to the Official Guide for GMAT Review 12th Edition v4" to calculate the following.

My plan after looking at this is :
1. To brush my basics of weaker areas and concentrate more on avoiding getting-the-easy-&-Medium-Qs-wrong.
2. Occasionally solve CR and RCs. Read articles daily.
3. Take only the Full length Prep Tests by GMAC (old and new) with a 4 day interval and with constant timing improvements.

I have registered for Magoosh, which should help me brush my basics and offer some practice questions.
I am not planning to go out of the following resources. OG10, OG11, OG12, VG2 & Magoosh Prep.

I am planning to take the Official test within two weeks. I am targeting 750-770.

Please critique my plan and suggest any tweaks to it.

The real question is... why retake? You might be spending too much time to improve an already impressive score, when other aspects of your application should get more time. A GMAT is just one part of the application, and with a 730, with strong splits, you have that part taken care of. FORGET ABOUT THE GMAT... right now your should be spending time on other areas of your app
