Retaking GMAT-Help Needed! [#permalink] New post 09 Feb 2012, 17:01
Hi all

I just took the Gmat exam a week ago and I got 520(Q47,V16) .I have read the Official Gmat 12th edition and 2thED of verbal,I studied all manhattan books and my weak points are RC,SC and lack of concentration in verbal questions on the exam day!!(AND I am not native!)I want to retake the exam but I don't know what to read this time!I also used Gmatpill RC and Grockit videos. There are several resources but I don't know which one would work for me such as : GMATPILL RC,Aristotle RC1&2 for RC , e-gmat SC,aristotle SC Grail for SC and Kaplan Verbal books,Veritas Verbal books....I don't want to waste of my time by choosing the wrong material for studing and I have only one month to prepare myself(I left my job so I have a complete full time for studing ).I would appreciate any suggestions.

I would go back through the Manhattan SC and RC books, do as many practice problems as you can, and really review the problems you got wrong and understand why you got them wrong. Also, review the questions you answered correctly and make sure you know the reasoning behind the correct answers! For additional practice with reading comprehension, try picking up a few publications, such as Harvard Business Review, The Economist, Scientific American, or even National Geographic! It will help give you exposure to material that is pretty dense. Practice RC strategy on the articles you read, such as timing yourself, identifying the argument and the tone, and jotting down very brief notes. Good luck! :)

Have you taken egmats free trial. I was in the same boat 40 days back. I tried their course and found it very useful. They have an approach tailored for non natives. I have benefited tremendously. Prior to starting with egmat, I could not get my verbal to increase beyond 25. After taking their course, I have been able to improve to 37 on my most recent mock. I am working hard to hit 40 as I have my exam in next 15 days. Wish me luck.
