Hi Jon,
I was accepted into my preferred choice MBA program, UCLA Anderson/Ross/etc, with a 680 (Q49 V34). This was on a retake and I believe that I can do better on verbal. If I am already accepted into the school, should I bother retaking? I'm interested in going into investment management so I am studying for the CFA Level 1 now instead. This CFA study will most likely prevent GMAT restudy/retake or should I try to do both somehow before recruiting starts? I was told that some companies ask for your GMAT score during interviews.
Great!!!! Congrats dude!!!
For the GMAT, it's true that companies, esp. in Finance and consulting do look at your GMAT, but I have never heard of anyone ever retaking the GMAT in order to land such a job. I'm not sure how they would see that even. (I mean looking at a resume with a GMAT score after getting into an MBA would just make me wonder "What is this guy doing?"). I'd say right now, you are in to an awesome program. If you want to work on something, then my recommendation would be on your network. It'd probably be a faaaaaar better time investment for you, and a lot more enjoyable too (you know, dinners, coffees, drinks…
)
Hope this helps,
JF
