(A) there was denunciation and exile
(B) he was to be denounced with exile
(C) being denounced and exiled
(D) denunciation and his exile
(E) being exiled, having been denounced

A, D, and E out as they are not parallel.
Its between B and C.
I'll go for B (was feted before he was to be denounced) instead of (was feted before being denounced)

I will go with 'C' even though it has forbidden word  "being". This seems to be the best option.

Will go with C too. But still have one question.
All the books I have read and several times in this forum people have advised not to use the word being.
The only reason I chose being as didnot like any other choice. Any clarification

You have to go with the options ..There is no other option that is free of flaws .. sentence c looks the best although it adds passivism in the sentence ...Don't go with any sentence that uses "being" unless all other choices are gramaticall incorrect.. C 4 me

Hi jaynayak,
I was in the same boat as you until this week... I read SC notes document that was posted on this forum and realized that there are legitimate cases for 'being'.
Here is the doc attached, check out page 7.
