Thank you very much for your time! I’m applying for admission in autumn 2014 and I would really appreciate an honest review of a snapshot of my profile:

Background: 24 year, Romanian

GMAT: 740 (Q 50, V 40); TOEFL: 112 (from 2010, will retake shortly)
Work experience:

2 years in management consulting at a top office in South Eastern Europe, focusing on strategy assignments in multiple industries, such as petrochemicals, oil&gas, banking etc. as well as operational improvement engagements; worked in several projects in multiple countries/multi-national teams;

Previous experience - 1/2 years management consulting internship at another consulting office in the region, as well as multiple internships in undergrad (pharmaceuticals, education, finance.)

Undergraduate: International Economics from the top program in Romania. GPA ~ 3.7 equivalent
Involved in academic research - member in the statistics and econometrics department, being co-author in several published papers

Extensive student leadership involvement: class president; lead multiple student-lead initiatives, ranging from social events and student life to housing system management and student representation in the University decision forums

Graduate School: Master’s degree - International Relations and Geopolitics at the same institution; GPA: ~ 3.2. Balanced academic requirements (mostly on weekends and evenings) with work, leading to a relatively lower academic standing, but still in the top 25%

Initiated and lead an operational optimization initiative at a non-profit focusing on rehabilitation of homeless in the several countries in the region

Other info:
Sports - competitive handball and swimming before/in college (unfortunately not so much lately); hobbies: music (played guitar from elementary school), all things related to international relations and current news

Target schools:
HBS, Wharton, Stanford, MIT, Yale, Duke

Thank you very much for your time!

certainly your core attributes are all there and being Romanian will help a lot since it's an underrepresented country in b-school. You are coming from a feeder industry, however, so standing out amongst other consulting applicants will require some careful consideration. I like your economics and International relations degrees. Not sure what you want to do post MBA, but this could be a compelling admissions play to leverage your experience and education for the global marketplace. THe economy has become so intertwined with the political landscape that it's going to take business people with a clear understanding of politics to succeed in the future. You seem to have demonstrable leadershp experience and involvement as well. I think the key will be in casting a strong vision for what you will do in the future and why the MBA will help get you there. Let us know if we can help you pull it all together.
