Hi smcg,

GMAC has publicly stated that the Official Score that you earn on Test Day is within +/- 30 points of actual ability. Assuming a similar 'swing' in how your CATs function, your recent CAT score show that you essentially performed the same as you did on the Official Score 7 years ago(+/- a few points). This implies a certain degree of consistency on your part - you do certain things consistently well, but you also make the same consistent mistakes. If you have some 'bad habits' (in terms of how you go about answering GMAT questions), then it might take time to fix them (and replace them with new 'good habits'). As such, you might need more than the 3 weeks of study time that you've discussed.

I asked about when you planned to apply to Business School because I wanted to know what type of 'deadline' you were on. If you're not in a rush to retake the GMAT, then you should give yourself more time to study and 'lock in' that higher GMAT score.
