Hi guruvigneshV,
The simple answer to your question is: technically, yes. If you're business school applications are due at the end of September, you can take the GMAT any time leading up to those deadlines. However (and this is a big however), I'm also curious to know more about the following:
1) What is your target score?
2) Have you already attempted the GMAT previously
3) If not, have you taken a practice exam? If so, how close are you to your target score?
4) How much time have you already spent studying for the GMAT?
If you're shooting to have your business school applications done by late September, you'll likely find yourself scrambling to get those completed concurrently with your GMAT prep, especially if you wait until early September to take the GMAT. Even if you're confident that you'll do well, I'd strongly suggest you give yourself a little more flexibility in scheduling your GMAT. For most test takers, that means preparing to take the GMAT at least 8 weeks before business school applications are due. The reason for this is fairly straightforward: if you decide after your first attempt that you'd like to take the GMAT again, you'll be required to wait at least 30 days. You should also spend a few weeks preparing for that 2nd attempt as well.
I'm curious to know more about how far you've gotten with your GMAT prep to date, but also consider that most test takers spend at least 2-3 months preparing for the GMAT. Even though we're halfway through May, if you're not far off from the GMAT score you're targeting, you still have 2 months to prepare before (possibly) attempting the GMAT in late July.
Best,
Rich
