Roughly: Gas stations compute price per gallon (p) by adding 4% sales tax to dealer's price (d), then adding gas tax of .18 per gallon. What is p in terms of d?
Answer was d = p-.18/1.04.
I tried plugging in numbers, and somehow could not come up with this. Would someone please help? Thanks.
