i applied to: hbs, wharton, tuck, nyu, duke, ross, usc ... with really really shoddy job experience (imo: 5 years at same job in IT, no advancement cuz of the lousy job market and then owned my cafe which subsequently burnt down after a year) and 3.6ish gpa from a top 5 and 770... i'm very curious whether they will dock me badly on my work exp and letters of rec from a non-current employer

"The waiting game" is definitely torturing.
Here is what NOT to do:
1. Reading what you already submitted over and over again to see if you did anything wrong
2. Checking your competitor stats and think to yourself "hey, how I am going to compete with this guy who has 780 GMAT / 3.9 GPA and cured AIDS is africa?"
3. Aimlessly searching for "something" online to formulate "pattern" of interview invites for every school

Here is what to do
1. Find something to keep your mind out of it such as go working out
2. Research the school some more and start practicing your interview skills
3. Visit the schools to show your interest

Needless to say, I did all those of what not to do...I need to focus. Most importantly, Stay positive!!!

Nice to see that I am not alone...waiting on a bunch of schools now and this is just painful. Not much to do at work- so killing time posting meaningless posts and polls here. Wish I could just fast forward to april.

i just have this fear of being rejected everywhere and not having anything to do next year .... hope the adcomm don't snoop here

I am with you. I applied all R2. If I see at least an invite, I'll feel much better.
On a personal note, I have two brothers. One went to Kellogg. The other is going to Wharton (most likely).
Los of pressure on me!!!!

Hmm, I do sound stressed...gotta go work out :)

LivingFossil,

Did you own a cafe in somewhere in Cali? I think i have read ur profile in BW forums (I accept, i have sinned). As far as I remember you had an awesome profile, so am sure you will score high with schools.

Anyways, I am in the wait game too..

livingfossil, aren't you "poop" whatever in your previous life? :P I remember the cafe burning down story...

Anyway, good luck y'all, I saw the angst from last year's class waiting for R2 that I forced myself to do R1 this year...

Considering I got dinged at the school I figured I had the best shot at, I've started making alternate plans. I might end up teaching GMAT prep for a while.

Alternate plan is always good...good luck with that. I found this post in Chicago GSB forum, which I somehow find amusement in it as it sums the essence of this thread...
Cheers

I am a round 2 candidate eager to hear about possibly receiving an interview. I know it states on the website that equal batches of applications are distributed for reading each week up to the mid-decision date. I have a few questions for you:

Would you be able to say what percent (even if just a ballpark figure) of the applications have been reviewed so far? And are interviews being offered at a similar rate as they were in first round (~60%, as stated elsewhere on this discussion board)? Also, does receiving an interview on Jan 30 mean that your application is stronger than someone who receives one on Feb 20? Or is timing basically luck of the draw, some people have to be reviewed first and some last?

Thank you!

Okay .. them being the same makes more sense. I also remembered reading about "poo" someone having her(?) cafe burning down. And after reading livingfossil's story, I was thinking, "Man, a lot of cafes are burning down these days" :-D

If you are the same person, then you (livingfossil) have a very very strong profile. It'll be really difficult for the schools to deny you.

Lol, you guys are lucky that you fellas have at least a few schools to fall back on just in case that your first choice school decides not to invite you.

As for me, I only applied to Wharton, my first love school in essence.

I am an entrepreneur, so I guess working for my own company for another year doesnt sound that bad.

Yet, just in case I fail yet once again this time around (I previously applied in 2004), I would literally pull my hair of trying to write another set of four, five essays.

I am running out of stories to tell, and lol, I dont know whether I can write another set of essays for next year.
