SC course : e-GMAT [#permalink] New post 04 Oct 2010, 05:57
hi all,

I discovered e-GMAT last week
It's meant to help its students prepare for the Sentence Correction section

I have simple questions about it :
- did anybody use this site ? is it good ?
- what feeling do you have about it ? (even if you haven't taken the course but only by looking at their website)

I am considering buying their course but I would like some opinions before

Thanks !!

I have never seen eGMAT come up with respect to SC. Most people prefer using MGMAT SC, Powerscore SC or Veritas Prep SC. I have heard of Aristotle's SC Grail, but apart from that, I wouldn't really recommend anything that has not been proven to be effective to larger community.

I just tried this e-gmat after watching this topic and I didn't liked it personally. It's no-where nearer to MGMAT SC!! Try MGMAT SC guide or Veritas guides.

I am using e-gmat. Please note that i am only half-way through with this course.

Positive :-

1- The emphasis is on understanding the intended meaning before you proceed to resolve SC questions. Also, how to tackle SC problems such as breaking down SC problems in to clauses.

2-i have found till now is that questions related any concept or questions from OG get answered in 24 hours with detailed explaination.

3-There is a pre and post assessment quiz after each tutorial.

4- You can first create a login and use few sessions before you decide to buy. ( if it does not fit your style then don't buy).

5- If you have more doubts then i suggest contact e-gmat. I also remember that there are 2 one to one sessions.

6- There are almost 100 gmat style problems discussed in detail (please check site for correct number).

Negative:-

1. You can possibly learn all these things from Manhattan SC
2. There are no 6 gmat tests (that you will get with Manhattan SC)

thanks all for your answers

@ichha, do you find the course efficient so far in your preparation ? did you feel any improvement when taking questions from the OG or CATs ?

I already have MGMAT SC , I just want to vary my kind of study mode at the moment because I'm tired of reading books, maybe this site could be a good alternative

are there any other users out there willing to give their opinions ?

I'm using e-gmat, for the price you pay for, its not that bad. Some people claimed that their SC accuracy has gone up to 80-90% hit rate, I'm no where at that level yet. :-(

I have been through a lot of material and I think that Manhattan SC Guide and Aristotle SC Grail are the best books to strengthen your concepts on Sentence Correction. Apart from that,I wouldn't really suggest anything else because ideally after doing these books ,you should be focusing on practicing questions.
