Just out of curiousity, Piter u have been posting only Gmat Prep questions, how many times do u take the two test software? do you reinstall it every time?

My G-day in 5 days, so I'm taking GmatPrep again and again in order to get all hard questions from those two tests. I don't reinstall it, just pick test and go ahead... The most interesting questions I post here.

D is the best.

A -> 'it' has no clear referent
B -> lacks clarity in the sentence
C -> 'had not' seems inappropriate
E -> 'it'has no clear referent

Please explain the use of
to be sited was observed in Ans. choice D. Please give some example, so I/we can learn this pattern.

I can't believe D is the right answer!

to be SIGHTED was OBSERVED (?!)

isn't that like massively redundant?! I can't believe GMAT examiners would ever do that in the correct answer choice, since they hammer so much on conciseness.
