I had to search the meaning of as such
I was struggling to choose between A and B.
as such - is an adverb
so it should modify either a verb or an adjective.
(A) as such - dont know what it modifies
Also if you see both sentence fragments seperated by comma ara cluases. They need a coordinating conjuction and
(B) looks fine because as such modifies participle phrase ( used as adjective )

I believe A is a better answer than B.

OVER

I still don't agree with (A).
How can you refute the fact that "it" has no clear referent in (A). As this "it" can refer either to water or to fat or to drug...
So still I think (B) is better than (A)
What is the source of this question?

The logical flow of the sentence makes it pretty obvious that "it" refers to "alcohol."
