Scholarship Apps vs. Admission Apps

So after getting into your dream school, and trying to sway your bank into financing you, one gets to thinking: "Gee, a scholarship would really come in handy right about now."
As I sit here browsing through my school's scholarships portfolio and reading application questions, it hit me that these essays are potentially even tougher than the admit ones. Back at that stage, there were several hundred admit spots to vie for, but after making it past that hurdle, each scholarship only awards maybe one or two.
Am I seriously contemplating writing thousand-word essays about the state of third world economies, how I intend to save the environment, or the backlash of the credit crisis? Huh, I guess I am. I'm also looking at the "tell us why you are financially disadvantaged" questions and wondering how people manage to write these essays without sounding like they're groveling.
Anyway, if you think you've exhausted your creativity trying to sound unique in your school apps--hold that thought--you'll be upping the ante even more on scholarship essays.
Mine are due this upcoming week - how about the rest of you guys? Are you even bothering?
