This is/was somewhat common with 3rd tier schools - they are "buying" high gmat scores that help them with rankings. Usually this is true for schools with mid-600's as average and they will usually give some $$$ to a person with at least 700 and if you have 730+, you will often get the full ride. Works well if you want to go to that school. On the other hand, top 10 never do this this.

Hey, thanks for your quick reply. Can u give me some more info on this , like the names of the colleges who give such scholarships ?? I think anything above 700 should be enough to get a scholarship , right ?? bb wrote: mbawannabe123 wrote: hello everybody , can anyone tell me if there are any b-schools offering scholarships for people with exceptional GMAT scores . Probably best option is to go through these few threads and figure out who got $$$ (and if you can publish a list of those schools). 2009-profiles-w-admit-dings-results-no-discussion-62945.html2009-acceptances-rejections-by-school-post-results-here-73302.htmlFrom what I personally know/remember here are the schools that give $$$ to high GMAT scorers: Owen (Vanderbilt) UCSD Pepperdine Loyola Eastern Washington U in Spokane, WA Columbia (used to a long time ago)

Mr.Nink got a full ride at Yale but then he had an obscene GMAT score. There was also another Indian guy who got a full ride at Emory but then again he had a GMAT score in the 99th percentile.

There are several aspects that impact such as time of application/chance of a person rejecting acceptance, etc. There is more money in R1 Also, if the AdCom feels that a person would reject admissions (safety school), which impacts their rankings, they may try to sweeten the deal. At the same time, if it is an international applicant from a "poor" country, they may not grant admissions when money is out, as they know, the person would reject. Interesting - this table says that a lot of schools provide some fort of Fin Aid to about 60-70% of people, but I think very few get it based on the GMAT. the-pants-pooping-applicant-thread-for-78477.html#p617871
