School visits [#permalink] New post 04 Feb 2009, 08:46
Hi,

I'm planning to visit the following schools in June. I know that some schools don't track visits, but some do and weigh them in your application. Would appreciate any insights on the list, and do correct me if i'm wrong on anything.

HBS - they don't really care
Stanford - they don't really care
Wharton
MIT
Kellogg
Chicago Booth
Tuck
Berkeley
Columbia
Stern
UCLA
Yale SOM
Cornell
Duke

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Tuck absolutely requires a visit, but you might want to hold off until fall so you can do your interview at the same time. They only admit a tiny number of students who don't interview on campus, and I think those are all int'l applicants.

Sorry for the double post. I would also worry a bit about doing the visits in June. You're not going to be able to observe classes or talk to many students (possibly any students). So I'm not sure what you would get out of the experience -- they might put a checkmark by your name if they care about visits, but it won't help you determine fit very much. I would wait until campus visits start in the fall.
