Hi I'm considering going to b-school in Norway and I came across this: http://www.businessbecause.com/why-i-ch ... gement.htm

I've heard many great things about the school and that it has a killer set of Masters programs. Would be great to get your feedback about the school! Cheers

Having a good deal of experience in a Scandinavian Shipping firm, I know for a fact that BI delivers world class management education. But it makes it really hard to get a job there without knowing Norse/ Danish/ Swedish etc

Hi,

I'm Norwegian, and have actually taken a course at BI (Norwegian School of Management). They have not done well in rankings recently (placed 70 out of 75 total European business schools in the recent FT ranking), and have closed their full time MBA program. In Norway NHH (Norwegian School of Economics) in Bergen has the best reputation, but it is not world class either (ranked 44 in Europe). Both BI and NHH only have Executive MBA programs (in addition to the Master of Science).

I would advice to study outside of Norway if you are competitive. It's pretty easy to get a job in Norway if you are qualified without knowing Norwegian as everybody understands English.

Yeah I think BI had a Masters in management / Management in Entrepreneurship which was always more valued than their MBA.

Hello from the GMAT Club MBAbot!

Thanks to another GMAT Club member, I have just discovered this valuable topic, yet it had no discussion for over a year. I am now bumping it up - doing my job. I think you may find it valuable (esp those replies with Kudos).

Hey,

I recently became interested in pursuing a masters at NHH but I have some questions regarding the requirements and also if I have a suitable profile.

First of all, they state the following:

90 ECTS must be within economics and business administration. This may include methodological subjects like statistics or mathematics, but not exclusively. 30 ECTS must be within Business administration (e.g. finance, accounting, strategy, marketing, statistics, mathematics, etc.). Economics courses such as micro- or macroeconomics may not count toward the business administration requirement.

I'm in my third year of a UK bachelor in management, which is made up of modules almost entirely in the area of business administration. I have one module which is a Microeconomics/decision-making joint module. So I am uncertain whether my degree meets the requirements in the first place. I have not yet received a reply from NHH.

The second question is how competitive some of the majors are, e.g. Strategy and management and international business in relation to my profile:

Grade: UK high 2.1 expected at top 6 University.
GRE: Quant 153 ( I know horrible) but it meets the minimum. (what can we assume about the GRE ranges for applicants)?
Internships: Short experience in BB bank in my first year, summer internship at major tech firm (think Facebook, Google, Amazon)
Learning a 4th language.
I am scandinavian if this matters.

Any thoughts? :)
