Hi,
I totally confused with the answer for this Sentence:

Scientists have observed large concentrations of heavy-metal deposits in the upper twenty centimeters of Baltic Sea sediments, which are consistent with the growth of industrial activity there.

1) Baltic Sea sediments, which are consistent with the growth of industrial activity there.
2) Baltic Sea sediments, findings consistent with its growth of industrial activity.
3) Baltic Sea sediments, where the growth of industrial activity is consistent with these findings.
4) Sediments from the Baltic Sea, findings consistent with its growth of industrial activity in the area.
5) Sediments from the Baltic Sea, consistent with the growth of industrial activity there.

Please help.
OA is 4.

This question has been posted on this forum before. Try using the search option - you will find most of the OG and other prep materials there.

Also, I think you made a typo in the question which goes as follows:

38. Scientists have observed large concentrations of heavy-metal deposits in the upper twenty centimeters of Baltic Sea sediments, which are consistent with the growth of industrial activity there.

(A) Baltic Sea sediments, which are consistent with the growth of industrial activity there
# there would refer to 20 cm which is not where the industry activity is growing. also Baltic sea sediments would not be consistent with growth - so wrong use of which

(B) Baltic Sea sediments, where the growth of industrial activity is consistent with these findings
# where refers to 20 cm, that is not the intended meaning - growth is in the area

(C) Baltic Sea sediments, findings consistent with its growth of industrial activity
# its does not have a clear referant

(D) sediments from the Baltic Sea, findings consistent with the growth of industrial activity in the area
correct - it is clear that these findings are consistent with the growth of the inustry in the area

(E) sediments from the Baltic Sea, consistent with the growth of industrial activity there
# sediments are not consistent, findings are. there does not have a very clear referant - do they mean 20 cm, Baltic sea, the area ?
