I had my first gmat exam on Monday 16th July 2012.

Score as follows:

Quant
Scaled Score: 42, Percentile: 57
Verbal
Scaled Score: 32, Percentile: 64

Total : 610: Percentile: 66

Im targeting a 700 but would take any score over 650 based on the schools I am targeting.

Im not sure what to make of the scores above. Quant score is more but percentile is lower and Verbal score is lower but Percentile is higher.

Please can you advise me how I should approach the next month or so in terms of studies. Should I focus on Quant more or verbal more?

For my Gmat I did the OG12 and Kaplan.

your scores are very close to my 600 on my first attempt (q40, v33,)

Im focusing on improving both by redoing the OG very carefully and studying my mistakes. Im looking to get above a 650 as well.

What were your practice scores like? Im averaging around 650 (q41,v38)

Well prior to my GMAT, earlier this week, I took a few Kaplan CATs and averaged around 620.... So the actually exam day score was quite similar.

I also had 600 on the two Gmat Prep CATs...

How long ago did you have your first attempt? How did you improve your Verbal by 5 points?

my first attempt was in July. Have a retake in August. The verbal scores were from my practice exams not the actual test, so I'm hoping that I'll be able to replicate the higher verbals on the actual test.
