I scored 720 yesterday after three weeks of intensive prep. However, I only scored 47 on the quant (I knew I messed up after the section) which has gotten me wondering whether I should retake the test. My verbal score of 42 is not impressive at all considering that I'm a native english speaker who scored 164 on his LSAT. Takes?

Oh yeah, I also don't have a technical or quantitative background, at least I don't think majoring in economics and political science/philosophy counts as such.
I did my undergrad at the University of Toronto and graduated with a cgpa of 3.61. I'm interested in the masters of international finance at HEC Paris.

Slight bump and a new piece of info:

I only studied for the GMAT with the OG13, GMAT Prep Pack 1 and Kaplan 800. Does anyone think that I can dramatically increase my score to, say, 770 by enrolling with MGMAT or wherever?

Is that official GMAT or this is a GMAT Prep? I am assuming this is official test score.
Q47 is not a low score. It has been inflated in terms of the the percentiles and people scoring 50 or so on the Quant.

It is tougher than it seems to get a 50 or 51 on quant. I could guess that you could improve your scores by 2 points each in a month, which would be 750 or so with Q49 and V44. There are a number of courses that offer money back guarantee unless you can improve 50 points so if you are set on getting a higher score, you can go for it, but otherwise, 720 is plenty for most (excludes Indian IT males and other highly competitive sets)

P.S. If anything you will stand out with a slighter different mix of Q and V scores. I don't think it is a negative. If you would have been happy with Q49, V40, then I would not retake.
