Scores range-bound and 13days to go!! [#permalink] New post 15 Dec 2010, 03:39
everyone, i think the subject says it all. i've been preparing for the gmat since almost a month now and my exam is 13 days away

even though things have been changing for the better(concept-wise), my scores have remained range-bound(640,660,680,670 in that order). I spend 2h(practicing 30-40que) on weekdays and 4-5h on weekends and am targeting the mid-700s.

going by your own experience and posts read here, do you think 13days are sufficient to break away from this range and go for the kill?

expand a little bit further your situation:
-verbal and quant score
-what resources are you using

Am using the Kaplan Premier course material & OG..also i was able to lay my hands on McGraw Hill's GMAT guide, but that is not as good as Kaplan.

I am not facing any major problem with the Quant section; the major hurdle as of now for me is SC..No matter how many times i go through the rules my error %age is still the highest in this type of question..Can anyone recommend some tweaking, apart from answering the main question..

well, for SC correction , htere is no secret! The bes books are :
- MGMAT SC guide (very good book)
- SC grail aristotle: not bad, I am using it right now, and it is pretty good

You can also have a look at GMAT Club Grammar book, which is good to remember the fundamentals.

As far as practice is concerned, 1000 SC questions: there is no better way to dip your toes in it.

Don't forget to use an error log for you to learn from every mistake you do: I think it is better to do 100 SC question and understand them, than 1000 and not havong a clue why you made a mistake.

I hope this help
Cheers

it depends: your practice score are from which CATs? MGMAT, powerprep or Kaplan?

Try an official test (powerprep, from mba.com), that would give you quite a good idea of your level at this stage. then keep me posted with your scores, and I'll tell you what I think. In fact, Kaplan are good for practicing, but to estimate properly your score, it is not the best.
