Scoring in 640-660 range? Enough? [#permalink] New post 10 Jan 2012, 02:32
Hi

I'm from Kuwait, my GMAT test is tomorrow although im not ready I thought ill give it a shot, and I believe my score will be in the 640-660 range since thats what I'm getting in my prep tests (MGMAT & Kaplan). I have a fully paid scholarship from my gov. but the conditions are only if i get accepted in a school from a certain list. I have 2 years exp. with Ernst & Young as an external Auditor, my college gpa is 3.18, I can demonstrate some managerial and leadership skills through work. However the schools are hard to be accepted in. The list is as follows, you think I have a chance?

University of Pennsylvania: Wharton US.
Harvard Business School US.
Columbia University US.
London Business School United Kingdom.
University of Chicago GSB US.
Stanford University GSB US.
New York University: Stern US.
MIT: Sloan US.
Dartmouth College: Tuck US.
Yale School of Management US.
Duke University: Fuqua US.

Yes I know these schools are hard schools to get in, but i heard being a Kuwaiti gives you some advantage, and if you believe a GMAT score of 640-660 is not enough, I think I'm able to improve it to the 700's, however I don't have time to study, but if it's inevitable I guess ill manage. Thanks for you time, hope you can find time to reply and shed some light on my doubts :)

The average scores of incoming classes at many of these schools will be around 700 - 710. There will be quite a few people with 760+ which means there will be some people with 650 too. That said, if you apply with a 650 i.e. below average GMAT score, your rest of the application must be phenomenal to impress the adcom.
