Anyone try the plug in number method for this one?

2/5x + 1/4y = 3/10(x+y)
0.4x - 0.3x = 0.3y - 0.25y
0.1x = 0.05y
x = 1/2y
2x = y

so (x+y) = 3x
x/3x = 1/3 = 0.3333 = 33.33%

Yup, that's why I did as well. But then I tried to plug in numbers insteds for x and y, but couldn't get anything to resemble 33%

.4X+0.25y=0.3(x+y)
0.1x=0.05y
x=0.05/0.1 or x=0.5y, then 0.5/1.5 or 5/15 *100 or 33.33%

there's no need for that.

amount of weaker mix*(new mix-weaker mix)=amount of stronger mix *(stronger mix-new mix)
y*(30-25)=x*(40-10)
5y=10x
y=2x

So, if total weight is 300, x is 100, which is 1/3, or 33.33%

there's no need to plug in no's, or even use decimals (I always mess up adding or multiplying them ) It's all about proportions
