Congratulations!! What a tough decision! Looking at the US News and World Report rankings, Arizona State is ranked #30 versus Michigan State at #44. That is a pretty big difference that would seem to indicate ASU has a stronger reputation. That said, your point about Michigan and manufacturing is a very good one, and a very realistic one to consider.
Ultimately this is a very personal decision, and I'm sure you'll be very happy at either institution. I would suggest you layout all the pros and cons of each program and discuss with your family. Given that you're married, you'll probably want to live in a location where your spouse can also find employment or have a sense of community. Perhaps the cold winters of Michigan are not something you two would enjoy, versus the warmth of Arizona! Location is just one of many dimensions to consider, but it could be an important one, especially since you're relocating your family.
I would also speak with alumni from both programs and get their perspective on some of your concerns about placement post-graduation. You could also meet with/call the career services offices at both programs and get more detailed information.
Ultimately, you'll have to make your decision on your own - it's a tough call, but these are some things I'd think about. Good luck!
