Can anybody provide the detail description as OA is B instead of E(following the subject verb agreement- connecting and providing)

Manisha E is incorrect. Seldom and running are parallel as they are both participles and hence are parallel. Connecting should not be made parallel with providing and makes the sentence nonsensical. The Erie Canal, connecting the Hudson River at Albany to the Great Lakes at Buffalo, providing the port of New York City with a direct water link to the heartland of the North American continent. Does not make sense. There is no verb to the subject "the erie canal" Hence B is the correct answer Kudos Please... If my post helped.

OA is B because the modifier error is corrected and the verb form is correct("connected")
