Well, "it must be wondered" doesn't sound alright to me. I think it should be "one must wonder" So I would go with the sentence, She makes a vast number of telephone calls, and one must wonder what her telephone bill is. Choice E.

The correct answer should be choice (D.)
Reason -: Usage of 'wondered' makes it clear that the tone of sentence is past, this makes the choice containing 'would' the best choice. Also usage of 'what' is more appropriate than 'how' .This eliminates choices B and C straight away.

She makes a vast number of telephone calls, and it must be wondered what her telephone bill is like. A) what her telephone bill is like B) how her telephone bill is C) how her telephone bill is like D) what her telephone bill would be like E) what her telephone bill is
Answer:
This question seems to be an example of logical prediction. A) Redudant B) 'How' does not give a definite answer on the bill amount. It is rather inaccurate to use 'How' here. C) Similar to B D) Correct.. - this is in synch with wondered as 'would' is used. Also, usage of what E) Does not complete sentence n wrong tense

IMO E.....needs noun after like.....Bill is like paper, does that make sense. Big No. Therefore, between B and E. B is wrong because it has word 'how'. How her telephone bill is - good, not feeling well. Doesn't make any sense. Therefore, E. OA please ykaiim wrote: She makes a vast number of telephone calls, and it must be wondered what her telephone bill is like. D sounds right to me... mainly due to the "must be wondered"..... also all the other answers include "is" which cannot be right.

OA is E. Introductory part is in present tense [She makes...] so we need to follow the same tense structure in the rest part. Reasons: 1. Use of How is incorrect as there is no method/process/step involved. So, B and C are out. 2. A, C and D are all use Like in the end, but we need some noun with Like to complete the senence. Remember, Like is used for comparing nouns, and the statement is not comparing anything. Moreover, would be like is awkward usage. So, these are also out. 3. Only E remains which is concise and avoids all the above errors. ykaiim wrote: She makes a vast number of telephone calls, and it must be wondered what her telephone bill is like.
