shocked by my score [#permalink]
28 May 2010, 07:44
hi guys
I am completely dejected today as I scored a poultry 550 (36,28) on actual gmat. well around 4months back, when I gave a gmatprep without even studying a word I had scored around 530.
3-4 months of preparation did helped me to score consistenly in the range of 650-680 in mancat and gmatprep. The last 3 practice exam scores were 670, 650,660.(all three within 2 weeks before actual exam and with AWA's).
I am not able to understand how this has happened to me. Is actual gmat pretty more tough or something unusual happened. wud like to know how should I move ahead now?
Nitin

After i got my first score i decided to take gmat class and verbal "clicked" for me afterwards. The week before exam i just went over the books and some questions i got wrong on and did not take any practice tests at all. Whether you want to take another test is up to your timeline and the colleges you want to apply to. I think if you get the rest of the MGMAT books and focus on your errors you will go over 600..

i guess the math on manhattan is harder due to more difficult geometry and probability/combination problems compared to the real gmat - but that is determined by the problem pool so it could really go differently for others. Verbal is harder to compare since for me the Reading passage is difficult if the topic is very boring and dry. I wouldnt worry too much about practice cat difficulty vs real gmat since you still gotta take it even if it is harder.
