Good luck bud! Looks like you're really driven for the 2+2 Program.

My $0.02 - I used Knewton and found them really helpful. Its a 50 point money back guarantee (50 points from your previous GMAT or Diagnostic).

Look into it. According to an article that sighted some top dogs of Kaplan (or ex-top dogs), Knewton may not just be changing the way GMAT is taught/understood, but they way adaptive learning is delivered.

I found Knewton very helpful and worth the moolah!

Cheers!

(p.s. I do not work for Knewton).

Haha thanks! But I think I have more than enough practice material and study strategies :) I am more of a learn by self person, but I'll keep knewton in mind if I need to take a class!

I'm glad to hear that the first MGMAT test is considered the hardest. I gave it yesterday and scored 60 points lower than on GMAT Prep (700 as opposed to 760). I also felt that the quant section was tough, particularly the combinatorics problems.

You seem to be able to think extremely fast, finishing both sections with so much time left. I guess just by slowing down a bit you should be able to increase your score.

Good luck with your further preparation. Keep us updated.

Wow. You could reach close to 800, I guess. May be you should consider tutoring soon. I was always running out of time on the quant section in my three tests.

Whiplash, thx so much for posting that study strategy you wrote up with the pyramid, etc. Great run down. I'll be on this forum a lot next summer after CFA L2. Going to probably follow your strategy and put in extreme hours of study to aim for 700 and shoot for the stars. :)

Like I mentioned I am bilingual in English partially because I used Wren and Martin as a grammar textbook since when I was in 4th grade or something and we stopped using it before high school (9th grade). I think and speak in English except when I am with my parents (My dad will kill me if I don't speak in Tamil at home - retains the culture, he says).

I wouldn't advise reading it fully as the only thing. It's better to just grasp the important points in it. That book is not an introductory grammar book, it's more of a comprehensive book for everything grammar related.

Whoa! I was in the same situation till my 7th grade! I was in Dubai then and I spoke Malayalam with my mother only (also with my friends' mothers, but that's very rare). I tell my friends that I "think" in English (I honestly do!) and they ask me "how does one 'think' in a language"... what do they know about thinking, huh? :P

The biggest advantage because of this is idioms, I suppose.

BTW.. 19 years?!?!??! I was at the brink of leaving engineering to become a professional CS player at the age of 19! :-D

Thanks! I am pretty excited about my score, but I fall in the most over-represented group - Indian IT male. I wonder if there is a thread here for successful Indian IT males hmmm...

Anyways here's my 2 cents about GMAT -
After each test, spend sometime trying to figure out where you made mistakes. It needn't be the type of problems, it could also be the way you are tackling them, the way you manage the time, whether you lose focus in between, etc...

Your planning, diagrams and spreadsheets show that not only will you succeed in GMAT but will also be very popular in your study group in b-school :-D

Haha, I have OCD with notes. I have to have them my way and it can't be any other way. You should see my school notes, lol. And thanks. I am reviewing my exams. At the same time, I haven't spent any time on Math so far so I have to spend some time doing that now as well :)

OK, now I am a lil afraid to be in your group :P

Best of luck, Whiplash! :-D BTW, when you lash the whip does it make the sound that Chandler made or the one that Joey made? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggXbzjnffAo

Re: Shoot for the stars, reach a treetop [#permalink]
New study strategy considering the fact that I have issues with focus.

I am going to start studying MGMAT SC and Aristotle's SC Grail side-by-side in order to figure out what I need and take notes so I can just use that for reference instead of taking all my books with me all the time. Once through with that, I plan to start working on the OG for SC. Meanwhile, I am also going to work on skimming through the MGMAT Math Guides and making note of important formulas or rules that I might have not remembered earlier. After that, I plan to do the MGMAT Question Banks online and work on the GMAT Club tests to test my skills further.

For CR, I think I've already done enough studying so I am just going to work on doing problems from the OG and for RC I plan to just go with intuition and work on the OG passages along with RC99.

If I have enough time after this, I might also do the problems from the Veritas Guides (especially the DS one, to get a better feel of the math stuff)

In between this, I plan to take one CAT every weekend from now on, and two during Thanksgiving break and two every week after my finals, so that I can get my game back on and get that 750 I've been itching to get.

Wish me luck. I'll keep you guys updated about my progress :)
