Short Term/Long Term goals [#permalink] New post 27 Dec 2006, 16:13
How specific were you guys when you listed your short term/long term goals? I'm debating how much detail i should go into. There seems to be a balancing act... too specific and they ask why don't u just do it without a MBA, too general and you don't sound like you know what you want to do.

I can see how being specific is more advantegous on short term than long term but from what I've read, they vary from "I plan to work in XYZ doing ABC" to "I plan to be a CEO of a mid to large corporation"

well, how much space do you have? Cornell's essay on this one is ONLY 400 words, so I think my goals were just a couple sentences each.

As long as your goals are in line with an MBA, I doubt that an adcom is going to say you should just do it on your own. They know what they offer. And part of your charge with these questions - at least usually - is to connect the dots for them: where have you been, where are you now, where are you going, and why is their MBA the one to get you there.
