Shot at Elite schools in 2-3 years? [#permalink] New post 11 Oct 2012, 20:49
Hey guys, I'm currently a senior in UG trying to get into a T7 within the next few years. I'd like some advice on how to approach the next 2/3 years after I graduate to maximize my chances at a top school. I was originally going to go to law school, but ultimately lost interest after developing a love for the quantitative aspect of deals. Because of this, I sorely lack work experience, but I'm currently working with my career services office as well as my network to get a few finance-related internships this spring and next summer. My ultimate goal is to be a CFO at a F500.

Current stats:
3.9 GPA economics
740 GMAT

In terms of gaining the work experience, as mentioned before, I plan to do a spring internship while attending classes and then land another internship next summer, with either hopefully ending up as a full time offer. I'll then work FT for 2-3 years and apply. Do you guys have any recommendations or critiques of how I'm approaching this at the moment? Thanks!

Do what you enjoy and try your best to excel at it. Find opportunities for leadership. The rest will fall into place.

Get involved in what your passionate in right out of the chute. I feel that most bschool applicants (myself included) pick up extracurriculars after they set up their careers, which makes it look like the only reason we are doing it is to get into school.
