Should I retake GMAT [#permalink] New post 14 Feb 2012, 18:06
Hi

I've taken my GMAT 2 weeks back and got a score of 740(Q50, V40). I'm in a dilemma now whether to take GMAT again. My goal is to get in to one of the top 5(strictly) MBA schools namely Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, Kellogs, Booth

I think i have the potential to make it to 99 percentile(760-780), but want to know how much of an advantage it would give me to realize my goal

Here is my background:

Education: I did my under grad (B.Tech) from one of the top notch colleges in INDIA (NITW) with a CGPA of 3.4
Work Exp: 9 years of IT experience and currently working for Microsoft Redmond
Extracurricular: I volunteer for a Non-profit organization which works for the education of tribals in India and I have organized various fund raising events
Singing is my passion and I'm the lead singer for a local band in Seattle area. We have performed for few not-for-profit organizations for raising funds

waiting for some suggestions in this regard

Thanks

I would not recommend re-taking the GMAT. The difference between a 740 and a 760-780 is not that much, except potentially for Stanford (which would be a challenge given your background anyway). I would recommend spending time on the rest of your app instead. 740 is a great score!

What programs are you planning to apply to? What would you like to do after school?

You GMAT is AWESOME!! You don't need to take that again. Use your time more wisely dude. It's higher than any school's average. Now is the time to work on all the rest.
