Should I retake TOEFL? [#permalink] New post 06 Mar 2013, 13:40
The school has TOEFL requirement of 80, and my score is 84(R-16, L-20, S-23, W-25). Should I retake the test?
Does TOEFL score impact the overall application. While filling the application for school, the only thing it asked was speaking score other than total score.
I know my score is really low, and even I did not expect it!

Hi Sneha85,

please correct me if I'm wrong, but should that score be sufficient for your application?

Honestly I don't really know if that would impact your application significantly, but since you're above the limit, then there should be no problem shouldn't it?

If you're not satisfied with your score, however, you might want to retake, but since it's quite costly and exhaustive the test is, you might want to prepare a little bit more before doing the test again

Hi lucasp1589,

The Score is sufficient for the college. I want to be sure that colleges just care for the cut-off level when it comes to TOEFL score unlike GMAT score. I can retake the TOEFL with 10 days preparation, but personally I don't want to study :). I underestimated the TOEFL exam and that reflected on my score :(.
When colleges mention on their website the profile of students, they never mention TOEFL score; so I guess it is just a bare minimum above which your score should be.
