Should I retake Toefl? [#permalink] New post 29 Nov 2005, 11:52
Hi,

Last year, I took the toefl with no stellar results 263 (L22S28R28) but above the minimum requirement.

This year, I concentrated my efforts on the GMAT and obtained 740 (Q50 V42).

Considering the Wharton toefl mean, I am worried about my toefl.

Could somebody comment whether I have take the toefl again or state my verbal progression in the optional essay?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

I think you have little to worry about. I think the adcom will disregard the toefl score on grounds of your good gmat verbal score. I believe the toefl is a marginal component anyway. However, if the score really bothers you, you'd do better to take it again and just take it off your mind.

I honestly don't get the toefl requirement for internationals. I mean if someone can score high on the verbal section of the gmat, it's pretty obvious they know English.

btw when did you take the gmat? What are your percentiles? They must have recalibrated the scores recently, because my former roommate got a 750 with q50 and v41 in Aug 2004...
