Okay, I admit, these questions are a little off-the-wall, but I figure this is the best place to get the answers.
Regarding the picture that the proctor takes, do the schools have access to this picture? I have, what can be refered to as, a "playoff beard". I look like a sac-du-merde, and would definetly not attend an acceptance interview in such state.
Regarding the laminated booklet. Can you rip the thing apart, or does it need to stay in one piece?
Can you wear a baseball cap? I'm not trying to hide any cheat sheets, I'm trying to hide my rediculous, unkept hair. The GMAT is responsible for this hair!
since you mentioned it as an issue, i would advise you to get a proper haircut and look at your best on your gmat (think of it as a date or something...) - not because someone may see you after that on a picture but because i believe that you must come to gmat with a certian state of mind that you are in your best shape, doing the best you can...
for some people, appearance is not a big issue... it doesn't reflect or affect their inner "readyness"... but for some, making yourself look good, preparing for it, do all you can to achieve it, put in a state of mind of doing your best. it is a mental preparation...
from your question i assume you are a person for which appearance does make a difference for him... so do yourself a favour, and as part of your mental preparation to gmat LOOK GOOD on test day. if you look good you perform better.
