Simon V/s Kelley for a career in MC/Strategy [#permalink] New post 18 Mar 2011, 02:58
Hi all,
I have got admit calls from Simon and Kelley. I have also received some decent $$ from simon.
I am waiting to hear from Kelley for the $$ info.

Which school do you think is better for an international student to get into management consultancy/Strategy industry post MBA?
I guess Simon has a very good name in Finance.
So you get a good foundation in Finance in the core semesters.
I understand Kelley has made a name for itself in marketing.
Thus strong marketing classes in the core semester.

I dont know how much of this would finally get reflected when a company is selecting a candidate for the MC/strategy position.

Any suggestions??

I think a lot rides on where you want to end up post-MBA. If it's Midwest (Chi, Minneapolis, etc.), then Kelley seems like a logical choice. If you prefer the Northeast (NYC, Boston, NJ), then Simon makes more sense.

I would say Kelley is better overall. I am interested in consulting as well and Kelley has a great program especially for career switchers. The faculty is excellent and very helpful. The MBA job prospects can be regional but if you really want to be on a coast instead of the midwest you can make it happen. May have to work a little harder.

Thanks for the reply..
Simon provides a student loan for international with out US cosigner, where as Kelley doesnt have this option...

Kelley offers the $$ info in the package. Does any one have experience where one was able to get this info prior the package arrived??

I have decided to decline the simon offer..
Believe me it was not easy to say no to a good business school with $$.
I spoke to few students at both the school.
Simon is doing lot of work in improving their CMC department. And this may reflected in teh next year ranking..
But in the end I thought Kelley is a better fit for me overall..
