11. Since no one returns from death, we can never be certain about what passes through the mind of the dying person. For the unconscious, the confused, and the heavily sedated, these final moments are probably meaningless. However, for the mentally alert, it is quite possible that death presents itself as an unbelievably glorious experience, a flight into an entirely new universe of sensation. Why should we think so? Clearly stated in the penultimate line that some people are reprieved from death at the last moment. So, D for me.

GMATT73, the first line is says that dead people don't come back, so we cannot be certain what went on in their mind, but the point of the paragraph is to clarify that people who've been reprieved from certain death have experienced these "pyschedelic trips". My two cents!

Point taken. But how can we possibly ascertain from the penultimate line that the primary purpose of this argument is to substantiate the claim that "some people are reprieved from death at the last moment?" Sounds more like a statistical fact reinforcing other elements of the premise.

This one is either (B) or (C) unless there is a hidden meaning behind "die" in (E).

You have a valid argument there. I am now siding with B. Let's see how it goes.

Straight C

Thesis sentence :
Since no one returns from death, we can never be certain about what passes through the mind of the dying person.

Rest are just author's extrapolations and hypotheses.

Between B and C.

C seems to be the right choice and more generic outline.

My answer is C. Because everything in the text is based on assumption...hence no one really knows what goes on in a dying person's mind.
I still don't get why it's B
