The second had been is wrong. this left us with Choice D and E
Confused between D and E.

B for llism and correct ttense.

a. which is wrong.
b. correct.
c. they? wrong pronoun ref.
had sighted? wrong tense.
d. awakward
e. which? hmm... not anymore, its wrong.

GMAT tiger...can you explain the ||ism and tense and also how the tense goes with the meaning of the sentence.

sorry i did not notice this.

llism: been sighted and been sighted
Tense: have been sighted (present perfect contineous) and had been sighted (past perfect contineous).
so they are parallel and in correct tense.

have been sighted (present perfect contineous) and had sighted (past perfect) are not parallel and correct tense.

A nad E- which refering to sate- can be eliminated

D- not clear

Between Band C- I am confuses

in C, I think They properly refer back to seventeen UFOs and in B, that THEY is missing.


Because even if They is missing, no impact on the meaning of the sentense so may be B.
