Small business consulting? [#permalink] New post 23 Jun 2010, 11:52
In preparing for my applications, I am trying to clearly and persuasively articulate my short-term career goals. I'm an entrepreneur and want to continue to be. I'd like to use a top school's networks, resources, and knowledge to add value to my own business and create new businesses. I'd also like to add to my knowledge of bootstrapping a startup a sound understanding of general management principles. And I'd like to go into small-business and entrepreneurial consulting.

Is this last goal going to hurt me? Will top schools be more interested in admitting someone taking the traditional route, someone who will be easily employed by a large firm at the end of two years? Will they rule against me because I'd like to strike out on my own and/or go into consulting without a traditional consulting background?
