I've always planned for the education industry to be a major part of my MBA, and so from my research of various programs, I've come across some resources that list some of the major players in education:

Berkeley Education Club, Speaker Series 2008
http://groups.haas.berkeley.edu/education/speaker_schedule_08.htm

Yale Education Conference, 2009, Speaker List (you can also see the 2007 and 2008 speaker lists)
http://community.som.yale.edu/education/?page_id=7

Kellogg Education Industry Club, Various Links
http://www.kellogg.northwestern.edu/student/club/education/links.htm

From the students I've spoken to who are interested in working in education, the Broad Foundation and Education Pioneers program seem to be a universally popular.

These were my starting points for the education in the US, but I am unfamiliar with what's in Europe. It'd be interesting to find out!

So look, I don't mean to put down anyone's professional ambitions, but I haven't the slightest interest in banking/finance or consulting. Is anyone else out there applying to B-schools for the non-profit management or social entrepreneurship programs? I've been soliciting views from current students at a bunch of schools and have gotten mixed reviews about how non-traditional business school types like us are received. Thoughts, anyone?

Can we revive this thread now? I'm from China and want to pursue a career in education industry after MBA, and am now waiting for my MBA application result. I've applied to 3 Bschools in US. Mostly I would work in for-profit section, but this thread has really brought me a lot of thoughts about non-profit management in education industry.
Can anyone add new ideas about current trend in US Bschools to continue this thread?

As far as US schools, I don't think too much has changed over the past couple of years. For social enterprise, the schools that immediately come to mind are Yale, Duke, Kellogg, and Haas. I know UCLA is trying to increase this area in their curriculum as well.

vikram4689, great to meet you here. I'm from Shanghai, China, and now working in a nonprofit educational organization. I plan to study MBA and my post-MBA goal is to join a for-profit education organization. How about you?
