This may not be the perfect place to ask for advice on this, but i'm not sure where else to get some advice on the matter. Any help on where i would get better advice would be greatly appreciated.
I'm currently 22 and have a BS in Biology from the University of Michigan mainly because my parents pressured me on the doctor route for a long time. I decided during my junior year that medical school was not really what i desired to do with my life. Business has always interested me but being already done with undergrad, i'm not exactly sure how I could get into the field in any capacity. I did not do the proper research and thought maybe getting an MBA would be the way to go to get a job in the field. For this reason I took the Gmat, which i did fairly well on, but realized that no MBA program would take me without proper work experience.
So my question is what would be my best option right now for a student with a fairly low GPA Science degree and little background in business, to get into the field in some way. I'm currently living at home and am fairly well off to where i can take non paying jobs to accrue experience for some time. There is also a university right next to my house where I could take any required courses.
GPA: 2.7 BS Biology University of Michigan Ann Arbor (Low gpa in part because of being diagnosed with ADD senior year of college. I became a much better student after beginning medications)
GMAT: 700 (47 Quant) (38 Verbal) (6 IR) (6 AWA)
Again I'm sorry if this is not the correct place for this, I am just in need of some advice. If anyone could help, or show me a better place to ask this that would be greatly appreciated.
Hmmm, Good question actually.
For you it's a question of timing, of what you want to do, and when you want to do it.
One option would be for you to try and get into a Masters that is in Business but not an MBA - so accounting, finance, MiM (mostly in Europe), economics, and then try and land a first business job from there. The other would be to try and get a job first, work three years and then do your MBA.
I can't really tell you what would be "right" for you without knowing what is better for you and what you want, but I'm guessing you have a pretty good idea,
Best,
